Now that eco-friendly plans have become the new "trend" in corporations to show they care about our community and our environment while their company officers and big shots drive their Hummers and large SUVs, we have been green for quite some time without the practice of "over promising green". Going green in a small company like ours is very easy. However, not only are we environmentally friendly at our company; we also advise our clients on how they can be as eco-friendly as possible. Training and educating companies is half the battle. We understand the importance of moving to green, and we’re working toward making not only our company, but the processes within the IT industry more eco-friendly.

Some of the steps we implemented over two years ago were as follows:

- Switched to smaller or hybrid vehicles when going to our meetings or training sessions.
- Switched all power supplies on our computers and servers which support the Energy Star 2007 Standard and feature the industry's most efficient power-management and ultra-quiet designs. Not only did this reduce power consumption; it also reduced heat produced by the systems.
- Effectively set up our systems to shut off or hibernate when idle.  This greatly reduces energy consumption.
- Began using PDF on most documents for electronic storing instead of printing out on paper
- Implemented printer-friendly buttons on all our websites for much more efficient printing (printing a page directly from the browser can be very wasteful)
- Made a habit of shutting off our power-hungry peripherals straight from the plug to avoid gradual power usage
- Installed energy saving light bulbs in every room or studio (they use 75 percent less electricity, last 10 times longer, produce 450 pounds fewer greenhouse gases from power plants and save consumers $30 over the life of each bulb)
- Implemented much better and secure remote desktop applications for helping our customers remotely without actually having to drive to their location unless absolutely necessary


We feel it is really easy to become eco-friendly at any office.  It just takes some effort to get started.  There are Eco-Broker certifications and courses out there or online.  Please take an interest in this matter, research it and find out for yourself just how much it can help our environment as well as saving you a lot of money. :)
